Movie trailers are great in that they provide movie-goers a whiff of things to come. Give a movie studio two minutes, and they'll cram the best parts of their upcoming 2-hour Rom-Com-Mystery-Psycho-Thriller-DocuDrama-Kung-Fu-Vampire-vs-Zombie-epic into that trailer and hope it's enough to get you back in the theater in time for opening weekend and beyond.
For me, any movie that involves Liam Neeson, Matt Damon, or a member of the Wu-Tang Clan punching someone in the throat, is a movie that I will very likely see. What can I say? I'm a huge fan Action/Unintentional Comedy flicks.
On the complete opposite end of the spectrum, yet serving a similar purpose, are cookbook trailers (yes, there is such a thing). Cookbook trailers, likewise, provide readers and cooks a whiff of things to come. Give a blogger-on-a-budget 2 minutes, and he'll hopefully entice readers with food and backstory galore.
Which brings us to my very own cookbook trailer for my upcoming book, The Adobo Road Cookbook: A Filipino Food Journey. The book will be released by Amazon on April 23, and should reach bookstores by the first week of May.
Sadly, my cookbook trailer lacks any punches to the throat or any Wu-Tang Clan members (like I said, blogger-on-a-budget), but there's a high chance of unintentional comedy depending on your viewpoint.
Without further ado:
Coming Soon to a Bookstore Near You! The Adobo Road Cookbook!
I must thank my good friend, Matt (who writes the awesome sports blog Throwback Attack) for filming and putting this trailer together.
I also want to thank Ron Quesada of Kulintronica, for providing the music for the video as well. If you listen closely, you'll be able to hear the Kulintang—a traditional Filipino gong instrument—being played in a not-so-traditional way. Here's the music info:
Congratulations on your book. I've pre-ordered a copy. Now, how do I get it signed by you :-)
Wow, your son has grown! I don't think he was even in the blueprint stage when you visited Manila. Congratulations, too, for the beautiful family.
